  1. Tracked Quest: Your tracked Quest is shown here, along with your current objective for that Quest.
  2. Ikran Indicator: If your Ikran Mount is nearby, this icon will show you where it is.
  3. Compass: The Compass shows which direction you're facing along with any enemies or nearby points of interest.
  4. Healing Pouch: These dots to the left of the health bar show how many healing items you have.
  5. Health Bar: Your bog-standard Health Bar. If this drops to 0, you die.
  6. Hunger Bar: This shows how hungry you are. When you regenerate Health out of combat, your Hunger will go down. Cooked Food does a better job of restoring it than raw ingredients.
  7. Grenades: This shows you how many Grenades you have.
  8. Ammo and Reserve Ammo: This shows how much ammo you have for your Weapon. If your Weapon has a magazine, this also shows you how much ammo you have in reserve.
  9. Ammo Type: Some Weapons have one or more alternative ammo types; this indicates which ammo type is selected.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide | Starter Guide

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is pretty cutscene-heavy at the start. You'll begin the game as a Na'vi child in the RDA ambassador program. One of your Na'vi compatriots attempts to leave and gets killed as a result -- this is where you learn you are effectively prisoners.

Subsequent cutscenes show an additional escape attempt that eventually leads to disaster, so your teacher Alma seals you away in a stasis pod. This brings an end to the cutscene.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Creating Your Character

Creating Your Character

You'll now have the opportunity to create your character. You can choose your face, hair, skin, voice, and body type.

Once you're satisfied with your choices, you can lock in your choice. You'll then be treated to another cutscene showing you waking up from stasis.

Awakening

Time fast-forwards by several years. The facility you're in is now effectively abandoned, and your former teacher Alma is leading a rescue of you with the Resistance. This is where you'll actually get control of your character for the first time.

Your first objective will be to get some food. Head down a side doorway and go down a hallway.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Heading Down a Side Hallway

This will lead to the canteen (that is to say, the cafeteria). Open up the small green box and you'll get two Dry RDA Rations. Eat one to restore your Hunger and, by extension, start regenerating your Health.

When you try to return to the first room, you'll have another cutscene. A door will explode and RDA will rush in. You hide at first, but you'll have to make a run for it.

Escape TAP

Following this latest cutscene, you'll be tasked with escaping the facility with no weapons and no combat skills to speak of. This section is effectively the movement tutorial. You'll have to run, slide, and crawl through some vents after punching away the protective grates.

You'll eventually come upon a Na'vi warrior on the other side of some debris.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Meeting So'lek for the First Time

This is So'lek -- clearly a tough fighter judging by all of the RDA dogtags hanging on his chest. So'lek hands you a radio and tells you to keep moving.

You'll have to keep moving through the facility and you'll have a brief tutorial on stealth, a staple of Ubisoft games. If you haven't yet realized it, this game is basically Far Cry: Pandora Edition -- anyone familiar with Far Cry games will quickly pick up how to play this game.

At the end of the gym, you'll encounter a locked door. You can repair the wire nearby to fix it.

One of the upcoming sections will give you your first opportunity to actually fight RDA soldiers. While you don't have a weapon, you can one-shot puny humans with a punch. However, fighting AMPs (the giant mechs) requires weaponry, so please don't try to punch them.

After a cutscene, you'll be able to continue passing through the facility. Each subsequent room becomes more and more overgrown with wildlife. Eventually, you'll be outside.

Entering Pandora

Exit the tunnel and you'll find yourself smack in the middle of Pandoran jungle. Follow the river and you'll find some destroyed RDA AMPs and dead soldiers. You'll be prompted to head to a nearby fueling station; you'll meet So'lek here.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Getting a Longbow

So'lek is wounded, but he gives you your first Longbow. This is where you'll learn the basics of crafting.

This is also where you'll learn about Na'vi Senses, a valuable tool that you will use throughout the game. Na'vi Senses can show you objects you can interact with and, with the correct prompt, additional useful information.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Using Na'vi Senses on an Archer's Thicket

So'lek needs to heal, so he'll send you down to the river to get Dapophet Pods. (Make sure to grab enough for yourself, too!)

This is also another opportunity to use your Na'vi Senses to demonstrate two more key points:

Avatar - Frontiers of Pandora Guide - Using Na'vi Senses to See Enemies and Objective

Na'vi Senses can show your objective (as a glowing teal orb) and any nearby enemies, even through walls.

Defeat the enemies near the river and grab the Dapophet Pods. Return to where So'lek was and you'll find an AMP and several RDA soldiers. Deal with the soldiers, then shoot the AMP in either the vents on its back or through the cockpit to kill it quickly.

So'lek will leave, and now you're left to your own devices -- it's time to meet up with the Resistance.

Welcome to the Resistance

Use Na'vi Senses to see where Resistance HQ is. You can also check on the Map to get a better idea of where you are.

You'll want to climb up the cliffs on the right. Make your way up to the same vertical height as the Resistance HQ, then start working your way over there. Take care not to fall off of the cliffs -- fall damage is very much a thing in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Once you make it to Resistance HQ, you'll get to talk with your old friends from TAP and meet the people of the Resistance. You'll then get started on the Story Quest proper, and you'll even be able to take on some side missions!

Now that you've discovered Resistance HQ, you'll be able to head out into Pandora and explore! There are Resources to gather, food to Cook, and new Weapons and Armor to unlock -- your journey has only just begun!
