During their Not Warhammer 40k Preview, Games Workshop announced a new launch box for the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Cities of Sigmar army. The preview showed off new units, all dedicated to the forces of Order and in service to their God-King Sigmar, complete with a blend of fantasy weaponry and industrial artillery.
That zeal continues with another preview of several army units. The Dawnbringer Crusades can get ruthless, thankfully the Freeguild Fusiliers provide enough utility and firepower to hold their own.
The Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Cities of Sigmar Freeguild Fusiliers preview
According to an official Warhammer-Community post, the Freeguild Fusiliers are the gunner units for the Cities of Sigmar. Each unit sports a powerful black powder cannon attached to a sturdy hardwood pavis. With one command from a Fusil-sergeant, these gunners can fire up to three volleys within a minute. Their artillery is also effective against daemons, gheists, and other unholy creatures thanks to their shots being inscribed with sigils or blessed with lifewater.
Naturally, the Freeguild Fusiliers are adept at holding ground as well. These gunners can fortify their position, digging in with their pavises to make an impenetrable wall of death. Thankfully, they won't have to worry about running out of ammo thanks to their Blackpowder Squires. These squires move from unit to unit, reloading their armaments and ensuring they maintain peak performance.
This dedication to keeping the gunners firing is represented in the mechanic Resupply Run. Once per battle, at the start of your shooting phase in the third or subsequent battle rounds, you can declare one of your units was resupplied by a Blackpowder Squire. If you do this, that unit can re-roll hit rolls made with missile weapons until the end of the phase.
Of course, the Freeguild Fusiliers are one part of the Cities of Sigmar army. But they play a role just as important as the Alchemite Warforgers or as the ferocious Tahlia Vedra. There is currently no release date for the Cities of Sigmar launch box.
