This morning Wizards of the Coast and Ghostfire Gaming have announced that two adventures published by Ghostfire Gaming will be available digitally through D&D Beyond, Lairs of Etharis and Dungeons of Drakkenheim. These Dungeons & Dragons 5e adventures are the second Third-Party offering to become available on Wizards of the Coasts' digital D&D toolset.

What are Lairs of Etharis and Dungeons of Drakkenheim?

Lairs of Etharis is part of the Grim Hollow setting. Designed by Lead Designer Shawn Merwin and designers Tom "Evhelm" Donovan and Greg Marks this book is a collection of twenty different Lairs from level 1 all the way to level twenty that DMs can run a party through as a gauntlet or pick up and place down wherever is needed in their games to give their party a combat challenge.

Dungeons of Drakkenheim is a Level 1-13 Adventure created by Dungeon Dudes, Monty Martin and Kelly McLaughlin. In this adventure, players will be delving into the contaminated city of Drakkenheim after an eldritch meteorite is impacted. Progressing through the party members personal stories will put players in line with, or opposed to, five different factions of the city that will make each table's adventure unique as the story unfolds.

In talking with Martin and McLaughlin they recounted that when they first heard about having Dungeons of Drakkenheim on D&D Beyond two months ago - something they described as a "White Whale" for them - they were expecting the process to take a year or two and have been impressed by how much the D&D Beyond team was able to put together in such a short amount of time including map support.

You can read more about Dungeons of Drakkenheim and Wizards of the Coast's commitment to third-party support in our interview with the Dungeon Dudes, Monty Martin and Kelly McLaughlin, and Greg Tito, Senior Communications Manager at Wizards of the Coast. We also spoke with Ben Byrne, Creative Content Director, at Ghostfire Gaming to learn more about how this came to be, and about the Monster Hunter like features players can explore in Lairs of Etharis.

D&D Beyond and Third-Party Support

Tito spoke with me about Ghostfire Gaming's addition to D&D Beyond and how this is just the beginning.

"We're excited about more third-party publishing and this is just the beginning. Tal'dorei Campaign Reborn was the beginning, and [Ghostfire Gaming] is the second offering but there's more to come. It's an overall lift to everyone in the community that's creating stuff that is ingenious using the D&D Ruleset in new ways."

For those wanting to dive right into this new content, you can purchase and play Lairs of Etharis right now on D&D Beyond, and can pre-order Dungeons of Drakkenheim ahead of it's December release. The exact release date of Dungeons of Drakkenheim has not been announced.
