Fantasy Flight Games have announced the first full expansion for a TechRaptor-favorite board game Star Wars: Imperial Assault called Twin Shadows and a brand new 'dudes on a map' war game set in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe entitled Forbidden Stars.

New Expansion for Star Wars: Imperial Assault Announced

Twin Shadows is the first full expansion for Star Wars: Imperial Assault and will offer four new missions to play as side missions as part of the Imperial Assault campaign game in addition to two new skirmish missions. The campaign missions can also be played as a stand-alone mini campaign that will task the players with rescuing Han Solo from danger on the planet of Tatooine.

Along with the new missions the expansion will add two new heroes and a handful of new double sided map tiles that represent iconic Star Wars locations like the bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer and the Mos Eisley Cantina.  Twin Shadows will also add new Command, Agenda, Condition, Class, and Supply cards.

Keeping with the trend set with Imperial Assault, Fantasy Flight will also be releasing Ally and Villain Packs along side Twin Shadows that will contain miniatures to use in the skirmish and campaign modes as well as new mission cards relevant to the characters. Especially notable is that fan favorite character Boba Fett will have his own Villain Pack.

Warhammer 40,000 Board Game Forbidden Stars Also Announced

Switching gears from a galaxy far far away to one far far in the grim-dark future is Forbidden Stars, a war game set in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe, for 2-4 players.

Forbidden Stars sees players battling to be the first to establish a foothold in the long lost Herakon Cluster of the galaxy. Players will each take control of one the games four factions: the Ultramarines chapter of Space Marines, the Eldar of Craftworld Iyanden, the Evil Sunz Ork clan, or the World Eaters Warband of the Chaos Space Marines. Each of the factions will offer unique units, combat cards and play-style.

Rather than being set on a static board, Forbidden Stars' board will consist of 12 double-sided tiles that players will use to choose the layout of the Herakon Cluster for each game. This tile system should increase re-playability as players will need to adjust their strategies to fit the current game's layout.

Forbidden Stars will also feature a 'Warp Storm' system that will see players moving Warp Storms around the board that prohibit access between the tiles adjacent to the Storm. Players will be moving the Storms around the board during play and can potentially use them as defensive barriers or ways to split their opponents armies. Clever players will want to try to use the movement of the Warp Storms to gain a strategic advantage.
