New D&D mini packs are on the way from Wizkids. The company's line of miniatures formally called "Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures" are almost ubiquitous due to their lines producing characters and monsters from beloved settings like Critical Role's Exandria and adventure modules. They're also a reliable quality product that you can paint at a low price; a more economical alternative to the services provided by Hero Forge.

What do the new D&D mini packs contain?

According to a news report by ICv2, Wizkids' latest D&D mini packs will be eight different character packs. Like other miniatures in the "Nolzur" line, these will be primed, ready to paint, packed with detail, and ready for use in a D&D adventure with little to no assembly required. Furthermore, each character pack contains two different versions of the same miniature, giving buyers a bit more creative freedom in which one they want to paint and customize.

The new D&D mini character packs, including their MSRP, are as follows:

  • Halfling Wizards ($4.99)
  • Half-Elf Warlock ($4.99)
  • Shifter Fighter ($4.99)
  • Orc Fighter Female ($4.99)
  • Halfling Rogue Female ($4.99)
  • Aasimar Cleric Female ($8.99)
  • Aasimar Cleric Male ($8.99)
  • Earth Genasi Fighter ($4.99)

There are a few player race options that stick out in these new D&D mini packs. While Wizkids have produced plenty of miniatures for more popular races like humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, and tieflings, this wave does mark the first time Shifters have been produced. These are essentially playable lycanthropes, beings that can "shift" to a more bestial form for combat and exploration. Furthermore, the Earth Genasi's release means there is now at least one miniature for all four elemental Genasi. As for the Aasimar, it is fitting that a race whose parentage ties back to celestial beings now have Cleric miniatures.

Wizkids' new D&D mini character packs are expected to release in retail stores in March 2023.
