Beware The Taint of Nurgle

Games Workshop is remaining cautious of the global pandemic with their announcement of Warhammer Fest Online.

In an official post on the Warhammer Community website, Games Workshop outlined the online event. An entire week of announcements, each day centered around an element of their biggest franchises, starting May 3rd. Monday will be dedicated to Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Tuesday and Friday will focus on Warhammer 40,000. Wednesday will be reserved for any new novel printings by Black Library. Thursday will be all about Warhammer-themed boxed games. Finally, there will be a mystery event that will be unveiled on Saturday, May 8th.

This is the first year Games Workshop has gone completely digital with Warhammer Fest Online. This decision was made out of the safety of their patrons due to the ongoing dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, last year they choose to not hold Warhammer Fest at all to the disappointment of fans. The event will be livestreamed on the Warhammer Twitch channel starting at 6 PM (BST)

A New Sister of Battle, Aestred Thurga Announced

Seemingly as a taste of things to come with this Warhammer Fest Online event, Games Workshop revealed a new miniature for the Sisters of Battle. The figure is of a named character in the world of Warhammer 40,000: the Sister known as Aestred Thurga.

While the aptly titled Battle Sister Bulletin is peppered with Warhammer 40,000's signature overwrought text talking about Thurga's importance to the Imperium of Man, it also highlights a key artifact her model displays proudly: a banner known as The Auto-Tapestry of the Emperor's Judgement. The text from the page explains, "Weaved across the lifespans of five Canonesses and thrumming with the holy power of the Emperor’s gaze, the Auto-Tapestry (and its indomitable custodian) can be found in the records of some of the bloodiest battles the Adepta Sororitas have ever faced."

As for how this figure and artifact will be represented in an actual game of Warhammer 40,000 we can only speculate right now. Perhaps it will be something explained at the digital event. Only time will tell.
