Catan Studios might just redefine the meaning of the phrase "weird flex" in the world of tabletop gaming. The creators of the acclaimed tabletop game have announced an official Catan Beer.

In a relatively straightforward press release, the studio mentioned that the anticipated Catan 3D Edition was now available to order for the retail price of $300. This matches up when they first announced this version of the game back in May.

But the press release continued talking about two outside-the-box initiatives. The first is that the studio has entered an official partnership with the Champion Beverage Club to create an official Catan Beer. Champion Beverage is a Virginia-based brewing company that produces a wide variety of lagers and ales. Everything from rotating seasonal drinks to unique discovery brews are all covered. Now for a subscription fee of $50, you will receive a curated collection of beers every month. Among these are six Catan Beers meant to represent the various biomes found within the tabletop game. These include wheat beer for fields, rye beer for pastures, and Schwartz Bier for mountains and more. The subscription also includes other benefits such as discounts on direct purchases on their website or at local participating liquor stores.

Continuing past a partnership to make official Catan Beer, the second initiative involves the unveiling of a Catan Mural. The studio managed to commission the Chicago-based artist Czr Prz to paint an elaborate mural in Chicago's Albany Park, meant to celebrate interconnection. The mural was officially unveiled, Czr Prz shared the artwork through his Instagram, and is intended to be the first installment of a global art series commissioned by Catan Studio.

This isn't exactly the first time this studio have dabbled in unconventional promotion and brand awareness. There was that time back in 2019 where they tried to chase Pokemon Go's success with their very own AR smartphone game, Catan World Explorers.
