Compete to become the most successful newspaper in late 19th century New York with the board game Penny Press. The first release from creators Robert Dijkman Dulkes and Matt Golec and published by Asmadi Games, Penny Press is expected to be released on March 15th of this year. Get the scoop, set your layout and go to the press as you relive the days of yellow journalism.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended back in July of 2014 Penny Press is now hitting the market. A thematic area control, worker placement style game Penny Press casts players in the role of a newspaper mogul working to dominate the news stands and edge out the competition.
Penny Press is for 2-5 players and lasts 40-60 minutes. Featuring lovely artwork from Mackenzie Schubert Penny Press has a straight forward design. Penny Press won the first season of Tabletop Deathmatch and was an official selection for the Boston Festival of Indie Games.
Players have five reporters they can assign to stories in five categories of news 'beats': War, Crime & Calamity, New York City, Politics, and the Human Condition in Penny Press. Roll a die to see who claims the story and then arrange stories for a newspapers layout. Once an edition of the paper is ready it's time to go to the presses and get published.
Published newspapers are scored determining a publication's success and who is winning Penny Press. The creators wanted to make the game easy to play but there is still strategy involved. Watch the "How to Play" video to learn more about the game mechanics or download a PDF of the games rules.
Penny Press is available to pre-order world-wide from various sellers. Penny Press will be available to purchase on March 15, 2015. If the Kickstarter campaign was any indication there's a lot of interest in this game. Nab yourself a copy while supplies last.
