What are Adventure Games?

Adventure games are video games that have the player taking control of a protagonist in an interactive story, typically with exploration and puzzle or problem-solving elements as part of the gameplay.

The vast majority of adventure games are designed for single player, and encompass a wide variety of subgenres such as point-and-click adventures (The Secret of Monkey Island), episodic adventure games (The Walking Dead), and walking simulators (The Stanley Parable), with one of the most notable adventure games of all time being Zork, a text-based adventure game.
