It was announced today by Korean developer ROI Games and publisher PQube that cult horror game White Day: A Labyrinth Named School will be coming to PlayStation 4. The terrifying survival experience was originally released exclusively in South Korea and after garnering a worldwide following it is finally being localized and released in the West this August. Avid horror gamers may already be familiar with the first-person survival horror title, White Day: A Labyrinth Named School which was originally released in 2001. Since then the game has grown in its notoriety among fans of the genre and has been translated by fans into a multitude of languages. Now the game has been officially localized into French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian and English with this new re-release for PS4.
Set on the eve of White Day - a Korean tradition on March 14th where boys give girls gifts as an analogue to Valentine’s Day where girls give boys chocolates - a young man sneaks into his school to surprise a girl he admires with chocolates in her desk only to find himself facing the school’s malevolent ghostly inhabitants. In White Day: A Labyrinth Named School play as new student Hui-min Lee who becomes trapped in Yeondoo High School school overnight and must survive pursuing evil spirits.
This updated version of the game has been completely overhauled to give a modern gaming experience to console gamers. Graphics, audio, and even gameplay mechanics have been improved and replanned for the current technology. In addition to getting a technical rework, White Day has also been given an additional character and storyline to add more frightening content as you discover the school’s sinister history.
Gameplay includes puzzle solving, resource-based health and save mechanics, stealth, exploration and item management as players do their best to keep their cool and survive the terror-filled night at school. You’ll be pressed for time as you try to evade a stalker and save your friends. Playing on higher difficulty modes will increase the frequency of ghost attacks for a scarier and more difficult playthrough. There will be multiple endings depending on who lives and who dies.
