Raven's Cry

TopWare's Vendetta-Curse of Raven's Cry, (formerly just Raven's Cry) has been removed from Steam

The current cause for the removal is unknown, as TopWare nor Steam have made no announcements regarding the game being taken down.  Some speculation points to TopWare being caught posting fake, positive reviews for Raven's Cry on Steam, a practice that is, of course, against the rules.

It is also not a one time issue. Eagle-eyed consumers have caught TopWare flooding the comments section on Steam with positive recommendations for their games, Raven's Cry included, for a while now.

Other evidence includes Vendetta-Curse of Raven's Cry sitting at a 76% favorable rating on Steam. This is a sharp contrast to most critic and user reviews found outside of Steam, however. Our own Jose Alvardo reviewed the game last January, giving an unfavorable opinion on the experience overall. Other reviews have noted both numerous technical glitches, poor game mechanics, other technical flaws that have not been fixed by TopWare since January of 2015.

The current version of the game, Vendetta, is also a re-release of the game, but contained the same major issues as before. Most user reviews on aggregate websites point out that no changes have been made, leading Vendetta to sit with a 3.0 user score on Metacritic, for example.

This is all speculation, however, are there is currently no way of knowing what the real reason behind the titles removal is, be it quality control or censuring fraud. It is unlikely Raven's Cry will be put back on the platform any time soon due to this regardless.

Other games have been removed from Steam in the past, although the reasons for their removal are largely unknown. They include MMO's such as Aion, big name releases such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advances Warfighters and terrible games such as Stalin vs. Martins

So what do you think about this news? Is it really a loss in the end that Raven's Cry is gone? Leave your comments below.
