While we're still waiting for more news on the Resident Evil 2 remake, we did get some new information from Capcom about Resident Evil's spin-off competitive shooter Umbrella Corps.

While there may not be a reward for having the prettiest mercenary, Umbrella Corps does feature a fully fleshed out customization mode that allows users a good deal of options to customize their characters. As you kill other players and zombies you'll unlock all sorts of new ways to stand out from the crowd. You'll be able to change out various pieces of your character's armor, backpack, and mask for new ones that you'll be unlocking. The armor can be changed to various colors, and you can even unlock decals that show off more unique designs.

Umbrella Corps Customization

It's not just armor you'll be customizing, but your weapons as well. You'll be unlocking a steady supply of weapons as you play the game, including Resident Evil's favorite handgun the Samurai Edge. Not only that, but you'll be customizing these weapons as well. You'll be able to put on new scopes, barrels, and even change the colors of the guns as well. Finally you'll also be able to assign your character various emotes using a system called I.C.O.N (which stands for Interconnected Communication Operations Network). These are non-verbal emotes that you can use in match to communicate with your team. If you want to see some of the customization options in action, Capcom has also released a trailer showing off exactly that.

Sadly not all the news today was related to customization. While Umbrella Corps was supposed to come out in May, the game has been pushed back one month to June. It does now have a definitive release date of June 21st, so at least it's not all a loss. Capcom says that the reason for the delay is so that the developers can spend some extra time optimizing the game. If you need your Resident Evil fix, last week saw Resident Evil 6 being brought to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and Resident Evil Zero was remastered earlier in the year.

Umbrella Corps is releasing June 21st on Steam and PlayStation 4 for the price of $29.99
