The Total War: Warhammer III Roadmap for 2022 has been announced, and with it comes news of new DLC packs, Old World updates, and improvements such as bug fixes and patches to the game. The year is split into Q2 2022 (April-June), Q3 2022 (July-September), and Q4 2022 (October-December), as well as into 2023 and beyond. Let's get into it, shall we?
For Q2 2022, players can expect the Total War: Warhammer 3 update 1.2 to come in May, which will focus on implementing fixes for community-reported issues while also tweaking the game as needed. These bug fixes include AI factions rebuilding towers too quickly, flying units having issues attacking ground units, ranged units failing to engage valid enemy targets, daemon factions automatically declaring war on Slaanesh vassals, and the snow being too bright. There's also a fix for players getting stuck in the Slaanesh realm, and AI factions with anti-player bias.
There are also several gameplay changes being added to 1.2, which includes auto-resolve improvements, improvements to unit responsiveness, improvements to single-entity units dueling with other single-entity units, technology tree reworks, and a leaderboard reset due to balance changes and players reaching the top through "unintended means".
Along with the patch, there's also going to be the Regiments of Renown coming to the game, which will be free for owners of the game. They are "elite, recruitable troops" that can be used in both the campaign and battle.
What is the Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires release date?
With Q3 2022 comes update 1.3, update 2.0, and the beta of Total War: Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires. There's also the Total War Assembly Kit that will add modding into the game, as well as the first Old World update adding one of the last remaining races not yet updated in the Warriors of Chaos. Blood Pack III will add lots of new particle and visual effects, and there's also the addition of the first DLC pack, Lord Pack I. This pack adds several new Legendary Lords, Lords, Heroes, and other units that can be deployed across the Grand Campaign and multiplayer settings.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Update 1.3 will add the Regiments of Renown II, the improved Cathay formation attack, skill tree reworks, Tzeentch and Slaanesh replenishment rates being fixed, the frequency of field battles being increased, and other battle-related fixes such as unit responsiveness and interactions in battle.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Update 2.0 will add the Immortal Empires beta, which is the first iteration of the mode and will merge the maps and factions of the three Warhammer games. If you own all three games and their DLC, it'll allow players play content across all the games in the latest Warhammer title, which is pretty exciting.
Update 2.1 is coming in the final quarter of 2022, which will expand the Immortal Empires battlefield and add the Regiments of Renown III. More info to come at a later date.
Update 2.2 or 3.0 are on the table as well. What that means is that either players will receive a smaller 2.2 update or a major 3.0 release. The 3.0 release will mark Immortal Empires coming out of beta, along with other big improvements. If 2.2 is chosen, then players will receive a different set of content and fixes.
As for things coming in 2023, the chat system in Total War needs to be upgraded for the modern day, which will be eventually done to improve front-end tools for harassment and generally provide a safer space. The new Dominion mode will receive new maps, increased faction balance, and more, and if you want to help the devs will be monitoring "official feedback channels." Land battle maps from Warhammer I and II will be coming to the game, but there's no timeline on those yet. The multiplayer team is also trying to figure out how to share the matchmaking queue and rating between Dominion and Land Battle modes, so stay tuned as well on that front.
