Its time to take control of the news. Literally. TinyBuild has announced they're publishing Not For Broadcast, an FMV game where you take control of a TV network and act as the propaganda arm for an alternative 1980's government.
Announced at PAX West 2019, Not For Broadcast is being developed by NotGames, the team behind goofy 2d parody game NotCoD. The trailer shows the player character sitting in a TV studio and making edits to shows. They have to decide what's fit to put out and what isn't, while also choosing what ads to play in between. During live shows they also have access to a big red "censor" button, letting them bleep out swears and any talk that may not fit with the propaganda. All the TV segments are live-action, making the whole thing stand out even more.
While the trailer doesn't give too much of the game away, you do get to see some clips of players hitting buttons, moving VCR tapes around, and making liberal use of the big ol' censor. The clips range from news and talk shows, to exercise routines, to a quick glimpse at a puppet show. According to the game's Steam page, not all the content has been shot yet and you can probably expect more zany stuff to show up.
Not For Broadcast will be entering Early Access on November 26th, with the plan being for a full release 18 months later. The Early Access version will contain the first three episodes, and more episodes will be added over time.
