The TF2 Smissmas 2020 event has arrived, finally giving Team Fortress 2 fans some fun new community maps to play. Lest we forget, the new Winter 2020 Cosmetic Case is also here to tempt you.

Team Fortress 2 hasn't had much in the way of major updates, but the game is still being maintained by Valve. This maintenance includes reoccurring events like Smissmas, the game's holiday-themed event. This year's event is now live in a patch that also debuts a bunch of community-created content.

What's New in the TF2 Smissmas 2020 Event?

The major addition in this year's holiday patch is undeniably the four new community maps. Pier, Snowfall, SnowVille, and Wutville have joined the roster of playable maps. In addition, eight new community-created taunts have been added to the Mann Co. Store:

  • Taunt: The Pooped Deck
  • Taunt: Time Out Therapy
  • Taunt: Rocket Jockey
  • Taunt: The Boston Boarder
  • Taunt: Scorcher's Solo
  • Taunt: Texas Truckin'
  • Taunt: Spin-to-Win
  • Taunt: The Fist Bump

The community-created content continues with the addition of 12 new effects for Unusual hats and 7 new effects for Unusual taunts.

Cosmetics are still a big thing in this game, and the TF2 Smissmas 2020 event hasn't forgotten about that. The new Winter 2020 Cosmetic Case gives players the opportunity to get their hands on some new community-created content for the holiday season, as does the Winter 2020 War Paint Case. Naturally, players will need the respective keys for each case to open them.

The new Smissmas goodies aren't the only thing that's arrived; Valve has also fixed an exploit and updated some other files, many of which also feature community contributions; you can read about all of the details in the full patch notes; the Smissmas event will run through January 7, 2021. If you haven't yet jumped into this game, you can play Team Fortress 2 for free on Steam.

What do you think of the new content in the TF2 Smissmas 2020 event? Do you think we'll ever see another game in the Team Fortress franchise? Let us know in the comments below!
