Poppy Works and Ziggurat Interactive released another trailer of the upcoming and definitely stylish 2.5D character action game Slave Zero X.

Not only does the trailer show gameplay, but it also features producer Alex Lotz as he explains the origin of the franchise. Slave Zero X is actually the direct prequel of the 1999 classic Slave Zero by Infogames for Dreamcast and PC, and today we hear more about it directly from the lion's mouth.

The game expands on the original setting and on top of that, it brings back an art style reminiscent of that era.

You can watch it below and enjoy a tidbit of obscure gaming history.

Slave Zero X is coming for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, but it doesn't have a release date set just yet. If you want to try it and gauge your interest, you a demo is already available for download on Steam and Xbox Series X|S.

If you'd like to read more, you can read our preview from PAX East, in which our Austin Suther described it as a challenging game but also gratifying to learn, on top of being beautiful.

You can also watch the previous gameplay trailer showing the bosses named "Calamities" and another one showing plenty of super-stylish combat obviously inspired by character action games like the Devil May Cry series and anime fighting games like Guilty Gear
