The origin of the first character of wave 6 for the Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC will be a character taken from the Switch-exclusive fighting game ARMS. The direct claims that the fighter will be a little unusual because of the extendable arms, and will require extended development time. They're laying it on hard with the puns here.

This character for the second DLC pack for the game will release in June. To help introduce players to the relatively new ARMS IP, Nintendo has announced that there will be an extended Free Game Trial for the game Arms exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online Members. Nintendo is probably hoping with the ARMS character in Smash and free trial to provide a shot in the arm to the ARMS player base.

It appears that despite previous concerns from Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai that the coronavirus has not significantly impacted the release of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Pack 2 DLC. It is possible that when he said that however, he was referring to future parts of the pack, and when we'll be seeing the second fighter from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Pack 2 remains to be seen.

ARMS is a fighting game exclusively for the Nintendo Switch released on June 16, 2017 that features a fighting style based primarily around long-range attacks and where up to four players can duke it out at one time in a three-dimensional arena.

The Smash series by Nintendo is no stranger to adopting characters from various games for its line-up, even with games not necessarily associated with Nintendo, such as Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, or Joker from Persona 5, and even Banjo and Kazooie from the same-titled series. With Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo has the largest roster yet in the series, in large part thanks to incorporating every character from the past games while adding new ones.
