Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new update to the game, numbered 3.21, titled "Mission Ready."

The update, which is available to download right now, includes a few new mission types prompting players to steal evidence from Security Post Kareah or retrieve valuable parcels from underground facilities.

Players will also find themselves repelling raids on Orison's floating platforms.

A bucolic scene in Star Citizen

Perhaps the biggest but least visible update is the Replication Layer Split, which debuts in a new preview channel (so that the technological jump doesn't end the world on the normal servers as it happened with alpha 3.18),.

It's another step toward the promise of server meshing, which will one day turn Star Citizen into a true MMO capable of hosting thousands of players at the same time.

Below you can check out the update's trailer.

We're also getting a brand new ship, the Crusader A1 Spirit, which is basically a light bomber with multirole capabilities including limited cargo.

Like all Crusader ships, it looks quite amazing, You can check it out in action below.

Star Citizen's crowdfunding campaign is still ongoing, and the massive tally is now at $612,551,453, with 4,843,717 registered users.

It's worth mentioning that not all of them are paying players, as many simply created an account to enjoy the regular free fly events.

Speaking of events, CitizenCon 2953 is this week, on October 21 and October 22.

It's very likely that Cloud Imperium Games will share some rather big news, considering that it's the first in person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, you can expect a full report here on TechRaptor.

Full disclosure: the author of this post has backed Star Citizen all the way back when its crowdfunding was first launched in September 2012.
