RSI Arrastra Front View Concept For Star Citizen

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games just released two videos related to the growing space sim.

The first video focuses on starships. While the first part is dedicated to the Argo SRV, which is basically a utility tugboat and has just been released with the latest update, the second part is juicier, as it officially reveals the RSI Arrastra.

The arrastra is a new mining ship that will be sold as a concept during tomorrow's RSI day at the ongoing Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2593

The RSI Arrastra is an advanced multi-crew mining ship designed to fill the gap between the Argo Mole and the massive Orion, also by RSI.

Its state as a concept ship means that it won't be flyable just yet when the purchase is made available tomorrow.

The second video is a new version of the tech demo showing off what the game's engine can do. Some may find it familiar, as an earlier version was showcased at CitizenCon a few weeks ago, but this is a new and better-refined version with additional details.

It's definitely impressive and shows both what already exists in the game's alpha, on top of what is coming in the near and medium terms.

You can watch it below.

In other Star Citizen news, the free fly event tied to IAE 2593 is currently ongoing, and the current build of the game is playable for free for another week until November 30. All you need to do is to register on the official site, download the client, and you're good to go.

The game is financed via crowdfunding, and at the moment of this writing, the game has nearly achieved a mind-boggling $635 million in pledges ($634,963,513 to be precise), with 4,932,085 registered accounts. Of course, since many register for the free fly events, not everyone among these nearly five million registrations is a paid customer.

A cinematic single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in development and we recently learned that it's feature-complete, albeit a release date has not yet been announced.

Full disclosure: the author of this post backed Star Citizen's crowdfunding campaign.
