Developer Spiders released a brand new trailer for their upcoming RPG GreedFall.
The story trailer showed off the games unique blend of 17th century Europe intermixed with magic and fantasy elements. The trailer reveals portions of GreedFall's story, as settlers, mercenaries, and treasure hunters, fleeing a continent plagued by pollution and disease, set foot on a remote island that is seeping with magical energy. While the island, known as Teer Fradee, is abundant in resources and mysteries, it is also dangerous, protected by fierce locals and supernatural beings.
You, the player character, head to Teer Fradee to meet your cousin, Constantin De Sardet, who is set to become the governor of a brand new colony on the island. Your ultimate goal is to explore the island, find a cure for the deadly plague destroying your homeland, and play an intricate game of politics between various factions hoping to use the island for their own gains.
GreedFall's look and themes draw heavily from 17th-century European themes. Weapons, costumes, architecture and more are designed to be similar to the time period, while the games graphical look is invoking a Baroque art and Flemish paintings. Part of this is the use of grandiose sceneries with muted warm colors and darker undertones.
The game itself will feature a ton of diplomacy, combat, and intrigue, with Spiders allowing full customization for the player's character, including gender and a class-less progression system. Spiders is promising over a hundred skills to choose from, and that your choices will shape the world of GreedFall.
Like all games by Spiders, GreedFall will contain a ton of items to uncover and craft, companions to help you in battle, and a crafting system to help you survive the untamed land.
GreedFall is currently slated for release in 2019 and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
