During Sony's State of Play presentation, we discovered some new information dropping in for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, which was announced during The Game Awards 2018. Up until this point, we've assumed that this remake would just cover the original Crash Team Racing. However, today's trailer reveals that the game will also drop in tracks from Crash Nitro Kart. This includes both race tracks and battle tracks, as well as the battle modes first introduced in Nitro Kart. This follow-up wasn't as widely played, but having new content for the classic PlayStation 1 kart racer is much appreciated.
Thomas Wilson, the co-studio head at developer Beenox, had this to say regarding the inclusion of Nitro Kart content.
Since the very beginning, we’ve said we’re giving fans a whole lot more in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. As fans, we know the important role that Crash Nitro Kart plays in the Crash franchise among the community, so we’re thrilled to be remastering the tracks, karts and even the battle modes to give players an awesome Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled experience.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuTM-G3nfgY
On PlayStation 4, players will get a little bonus that brings them back to the good old days. Crash, Coco, and Dr. Cortex will each have retro skins that make them appear as they did back on the PS1. The PS4 version of the game also features a matching retro track to go with the skins.
Despite this exclusive PS4 content, the game is also coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 21st, 2019. The full game is $40, although players can spend $60 for the Nitros Oxide Edition. This will get you immediate access to Nitros Oxide and his kart without unlocking him in Adventure Mode. You also get "Star" skins for Crash, Coco, and Cortex as well as other bonuses that have yet to be announced.
