There's a bit of bad news for PlayStation 5 gamers: the Sniper Ghost Warriors Contracts 2 PS5 release date has been delayed and you'll have to wait a bit to enjoy the next-gen graphics on that platform.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 was supposed to launch for all platforms in early June 2021. This game has you taking on the role of "Raven," a sniper who has been tasked with eliminating high-value targets in the Middle East. This upcoming stealth shooter from CI Games was originally planning to launch on all platforms, but they've hit a bit of a hiccup: the PS5 version of the game has been delayed.
Why Was the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 PS5 Release Date Delayed?
The Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 PS5 release date has been delayed due to "unforeseen technical issues" with the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, these problems mean that the game won't launch on the PS5 alongside the other platforms.
"It is with regret that we must today announce the delay of the PS5 version of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2," read a tweet from the franchise's official account. This is the result of unforeseen technical issues that we've only very recently discovered."
"This will not affect the launch date of the other announced platforms," the message continued. "[...] We have a highly experienced team working hard to ensure the PS5 version meets a similarly high standard."
When is the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 PS5 Release Date?
Unfortunately, the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 PS5 release date has not yet been announced. That said, PlayStation 5 gamers will still be able to play the PS4 version on June 4, 2021, and that version will include a free upgrade to the PS5 version whenever it launches.
"All PS4 editions will include a free digital upgrade to the PS5 version, ready to download upon its release, to ensure PS5 players can still enjoy the game on 4th June," the announcement added."
While this is certainly disappointing news, CI Games is making up for it by releasing the first major DLC free of charge to all players on all platforms. This DLC is still in development and more details will be revealed at a later date; for now, you can pre-purchase Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox via its official website starting at $39.99 or your regional equivalent.
