Conan Unconquered, a real-time strategy game set in the Conan the Barbarian universe (believe it or not), launches May 30th.
The game was originally announced back in December last year. It's being developed by Star Wars: Empire at War dev Petroglyph, a studio made up of folks who worked on the original Command & Conquer. Unconquered will be the first ever strategy game set in the Conan universe and will launch for PC. We're not sure yet whether it'll hit consoles, but given that it's an RTS it could go either way.

The gameplay in this trailer is from Conan Unconquered's alpha build, but you can get a feel for the core mechanics and aesthetic. Petroglyph is calling this game a "survival RTS" since the focus isn't on building a base and venturing out to attack your enemy as in other RTS games. Rather, you'll construct your base, then defend it from increasingly difficult and numerous hordes of enemies. Effectively, Conan Unconquered is looking to imbue the RTS genre with a little tower defense magic.
The other thing Funcom and Petroglyph are emphasizing in Conan Unconquered is multiplayer. Rather uniquely for real-time strategy, the game will feature a dedicated co-operative mode in which two players can team up together to build, maintain, and defend a stronghold from enemy hordes. Petroglyph CEO Chuck Kroegel says working with another player in an RTS is "incredibly rewarding and we want to bring that experience to the forefront".
Interested parties can pre-order Conan Unconquered from the official website. The game will be available in standard and deluxe editions which will cost $29.99 and $39.99 respectively. The Deluxe Edition grants players access to two exclusive hero units as well as the game's soundtrack and a Conan Unconquered ebook.
Conan Unconquered launches for PC on May 30th.
