The multiplayer online survival game SCUM has gone platinum and surpassed 1 million copies sold according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page, continuing its success since it's day 1 launch as Devolver's biggest with over 250 thousand copies sold.
SCUM is one of the latest titles released by publisher Devolver Digital, a company with a particular focus on finding unique and interesting games. Developed by Gamepires and produced by Croteam, it features players taking on the roles of convicts dropped onto an island to kill one another purely for the amusement of the audience. First announced in August of 2016, it suffered from some delays for its original targeted launch date. However, things got smoothed out and the game made a splash at Devolver's E3 show before making its way to Steam Early Access in August of this year.
As a result of SCUM surpassing the 1 million sales mark, the developers have introduced a Golden DEagle .50 that can be found in the game.
The Golden DEagle .50 can be picked up by all players from now until September 25, 2018. Owners of Supporter Packs for the game will also get the brilliantly named Nice Watch, an item that is exactly what it says on the tin. At the moment, the Nice Watch simply tells the time, but the team behind the game have plans to make more useful information available through this device in the future.
Aside from the shiny new goodies to celebrate the passage of a serious sales milestone, a number of small tweaks and changes have gone through as with any other patch; be sure to read the Steam Community news post for all the details. If you don't yet already own SCUM, you can pick up a copy for yourself on Steam or on the Humble Store for $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
