Are you ready kids? SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 31st. As the spiritual successor to SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, you can expect to see the same type of zany hilarity in Cosmic Shake, or at least you'd hope so. Since Rehydrated was a remake while Cosmic Shake is its own thing, it'll be an interesting new experience to those who have been waiting for a brand new SpongeBob 3D platformer for many years now.
The game can be pre-ordered in two editions: the Standard Edition for $39.99, or the BFF Edition for an eye-watering $249.99. It includes a Cosmic Victory Statue, an Inflatable Patrick, a BFF amulet with a necklace, 4 costume miniature bouncing balls, 4 placemats, a standard copy of the game, and the Costume Pack DLC. Said DLC, which contains 7 costumes such as Mermaid Man Bob or RoboBob SteelPants, will be available for free if you pre-order the game. It'll cost you $9.99 on launch day if you don't preorder.

What is SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake all about? Well, the wish-granting Mermaid's Tears fall into the hands of SpongeBob and Patrick, who proceed to undo the fabric of the universe. This means that the Wishworlds--which contain knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails--will make an appearance as you travel to areas like Wild West Jellyfish Fields or Halloween Rock Bottom.
You won't be alone either: as SpongeBob, you'll be accompanied by your permanent companion Balloon-Patrick, and you'll also meet your favorite characters from the series that are all voiced by their original actors. The game will also have a soundtrack containing 101 songs from the series, including Sweet Victory.
