PAX East 2020 Cancellation

PUBG Corp and CD Projekt RED are the latest PAX East 2020 cancellations due to concerns over the coronavirus.

With the number of worldwide coronavirus cases slowly but steadily increasing, a greater number of gaming industry companies are canceling upcoming events and appearances at events. Now, PUBG Corp and CD Projekt RED have separately announced that they will not be attending PAX East 2020, although neither were planned to have booths at the event.

PUBG Corp originally planned to attend the show and have a mini fan event at a local bar, but those plans are now canceled according to an e-mail the company sent out:

In an update from the recent invite, PUBG Corporation has decided to cancel it’s presence at PAX as well as GDC 2020 due to the continued spread of coronavirus.

Unfortunately, this means that we will not be hosting the planned happy hour at Rosa Mexicano this Friday.

We will be rescheduling this plan for an upcoming event, once the coronavirus is under control and travel returns to normal. My apologies, as we were looking forward to seeing you in Boston. Hope we can count you in for our next happy hour – which I will share details on soon.

As noted in the above message, PUBG corp is also canceling its GDC 2020 appearances.

Quite separately, CD Projekt RED has also announced its PAX East 2020 cancellation. North American Head of Communications Stephanie Bayer broke the bad news on Twitter.

"I just found out my team is [canceling] our PAX East trip so I will NOT be at PAX East as previously planned," she said in a tweet. "I should still be at GDC though!"

"We weren’t bringing Cyberpunk there - it was more CDPR staff were attending but now we’re all [canceling]," she clarified in a response to a question about their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. "Trying to keep the team healthy."

The PAX East 2020 Cancellation list continues to grow. Sony and Square Enix were some of the first companies to pull out of the show, and other companies are sure to follow.
