If you're wondering what the heck is going on, "Pokemon Day" was announced in late January 2020. This holiday was celebrating the original release of the Pokemon games in Japan which took place on February 27.
Pokemon Day was going to release new content for Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon Go along with a revelation of more information about Pokemon Masters. One of the new bits of content was a special Pokemon Day Mythical Pokemon that would feature in the upcoming Coco movie, and now it's here!
What Can the Pokemon Day Mythical Pokemon Zarude Do?
Unsurprisingly, the folks over at Serebii.net already have a Pokedex page up for Zarude. We're still waiting on most of the details, but some things have been revealed about this new Pokemon.
Leaf Guard
Leaf Guard is Zarude's ability. This ability prevents it from being affected by status conditions during strong sunlight.
Bulbapedia has more information on the ability. If there is harsh sunlight when it would fall asleep due to the effects of Yawn, Leaf Guard will activate and keep it awake. This ability also prevents the use of Rest. Other than that, it has no effect outside of battle.
Dark/Grass Type
Zarude is a Dark/Grass-type that makes for an interesting mix. As the Pokemon Type Calculator shows, this makes Zarude especially vulnerable to bug types and pretty much immune to Psychic types. Here's the damage breakdown:
Takes 4x Damage From:
