Brand new DLC for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be released by Obsidian on August 2nd.
Titled Beasts of Winter, the DLC will see the watcher and their crew sail towards the southern-most reaches of the Deadfire Archipelago, where they are confronted by the cult of the god of cold and decay, Rymrgand, who see the Watcher as the harbinger of the end of all things. Rymrgand, however, has another task for the Watcher, one to fulfill their own destiny.
A brand new teaser trailer showcases what may be Rymrgand, a blue-like minotaur expositing what his realm is to the player.
Beasts of Winter will be the first of three planned big DLC packs that will be released for Deadfire this year. Plans for the three DLC packs were released about a month before the game was released, and all three would be made available for the price of $10 a piece, or for $25 as a Season Pass. The other expansions, Seeker, Slayer, Survivor and The Forgotten Sanctum, will see the party testing their martial prowess and their morality against savage foes, powerful wizards and more when they are released.
In addition to the Beasts of Winter DLC, Obsidian will be providing a major patch update and another free bit of content for Deadfire. Patch update 2.0 promises to fix some major balance issues with the game, along with adding a new challenge mode that is designed to tests the player's abilities further. The free DLC, The Deck of Many Things Pack, adds a large merchant ship, named The Deck of Many Things, arriving in the Archipelago with exotic magical items to sell from the Far East.
The patch and DLC are all planned on being released on August 2nd for both Steam and GOG.
