Opus: Prism Peak developer Sigono has announced that Japanese publishing giant Shueisha will co-develop and publish the upcoming narrative adventure.
In a post on the official Sigono X (formerly Twitter) account, the studio says its goal is to create "unique, heartfelt experiences" that touch players, and that Shueisha "equally values story-driven work".
Publishing and co-development duties will be handled by Shueisha's gaming wing Shueisha Games, which is also responsible for games like techno-deckbuilder Soulvars and cutesy adventure Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni.
If you're unfamiliar with Opus: Prism Peak, it's the latest in Sigono's Opus series.
The franchise began with 2017's Opus: The Day We Found Earth, continuing with followup Opus: Rocket of Whispers in 2018.
A third Opus game, Opus: Echo of Starsong, launched in 2021, continuing the previous games' mixture of space exploration and narrative adventuring.
The Opus games are loosely connected via their universe, but they're not direct continuations of one another, so you won't need to have played previous Opus games to understand subsequent installments.
Opus: Prism Peak will be the fourth game in the series. Presumably, you won't need to have played the previous three to understand Prism Peak's story, but it'll likely contain some references and callbacks.
In Prism Peak, you'll play as a photographer "lost in an ethereal realm", and you'll need to use your camera to uncover this world's mysteries.
You'll be accompanied on your adventure by a young girl, and the second teaser trailer shows our photographer protagonist taking a snapshot of said girl as she grins at the camera.
The tagline for Opus: Prism Peak is "capture the moment, then learn to let go". That tagline, combined with the tinkly piano music soundtracking the trailer, suggests that this one's going to be a tearjerker.
We don't have a release date for Opus: Prism Peak just yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam right now if you're interested. Stay tuned for more on this one.
