In this morning's Nintendo Direct Nintendo announced Mario Sports Super Stars, a compilation of 5 Mario sports, will be coming to 3DS. The compilation will include Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, Gold and Horse Racing.
They made it a point to mention that the sports will be full-sized competitions and specifically cited the Soccer matches being full 11 on 11 games.

Mario Sports Super Stars will also feature singleplayer tournaments, local multiplayer and online multiplayer for all five sports.
The presentation seemed very much focused on the soccer portion of the Mario Sports Super Stars, which is unsurprising since it's the most popular sport in the world. The aforementioned and strangely included horse-racing only made a brief appearance, unfortunately.
Mario Sports Super Stars is slated for release in Spring of 2017.
