Night Stalker has been revealed in a press release as one of the games for the upcoming Intellivision Amico gaming console.
If you're unfamiliar with Night Stalker, you can get a pretty good feel for what it used to look like and the massive improvements that the new version is bringing in the trailer below:
Designed in 1982 for the original Intellivision, Night Stalker was a game representative of a much simpler time. You are trapped in a maze with no way to escape and no way to defend yourself. The game begins, and you may be able to pick up a gun with a measly six bullets if you're lucky. If you manage to grab it, you can use it to face off against various threats like deadly killer robots.
Why are you in a maze? Why are robots trying to kill you? These are questions that weren't important back then. Any backstory was a luxury, my friend. All we knew is that the game was a heck of a lot of fun, and now a much newer version has been revealed for the Intellivision Amico console.
In this new version of the game, many of the basics are the same. You're trapped in a maze, you can find a gun, and there's a whole bunch of stuff trying to kill you. The similarities end there, though. This new version has single-player, co-op, and versus gameplay for up to 4 players. The above trailer shows just a hint of what we can expect in the finished version.
When Can You Get Night Stalker and the Intellivision Amico?
So, when will you be able to play Night Stalker? Well, it should be making its way to the Intellivision Amico on October 10, 2020.
That date also happens to be the release date for the Intellivision Amico console. Targeted for families — every game at launch will be rated E for Everyone — the Intellivision Amico is expected to retail for $ 200 at launch and games will cost between $2.99 and $9.99. The launch console will be bundled with five games, and players can participate using a free Android and iOS map rather than the hardware controllers.
