It's been less than a fortnight since Torment: Tides of Numenera came out and it managed to gather an impressive number of positive reviews from both public and critics (including our own review of the game). Many players already stated their willingness to play more of the game, wishing for content updates and story expansions. InXile announced that such wishes will be granted, as they are already working on some updates that aim to add more interesting stuff to the Ninth World.
During the development of Tides of Numenera, the team had to make the hard choice of scrapping some features that were previously promised during the Kickstarter campaign - some being included in stretch goals. Stuff like three companions or the Italian localization (still stingy about that btw). According to InXile, some of that stuff is going to be included in the game post-launch, in future content updates.
From the information the developer made public, they're currently working to:
- Oom ("The Toy" companion): This is a pretty big one. The "toy" is one of the companions that was included in one of the stretch goals of the Kickstarter campaign but didn't make it to the finished product. It was supposed to be some kind of blob that changed its appearance and abilities depending on howe you treat it. If the devs are going to stick to the original design or decide to go for something different, it's to be seen.
- Voluminous Codex: Another feature that was scrapped during development. InXile was initially intentioned to include a very large codex inside the players' journal. This codex would have contained detailed info about the world, the lore, and the characters, with additional art and details on everything. It didn't make out to the final version but apparently, it's going to be added post launch.
- Crisis system improvements: We don't have any information on this one so we'll have to wait for InXile to tell us more about it.
