The Witcher Netflix Trailer

Fans of the White Wolf rejoice! Netflix just released a new trailer for its series that follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher will allow viewers to get a whole new perspective on the character birthed by the pen of Andrzej Sapkowski and popularized by one of the most beloved videogame trilogies in recent memory.

The trailer was previewed earlier today during the Lucca Comics and Games event in Italy. The series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich discussed the show with the actresses that play Yennefer and Ciri ( Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan respectively ) and the panel was closed with an early projection of the Italian version of the trailer in front of an ecstatic audience.

The Witcher on Netflix

The events in the series, as we already were aware of, will take place years before the videogames and take heavy inspiration from the books rather than the games. The plot will revolve around Geralt and Ciri with the Witcher's predestination and responsibility towards the child in the forefront of the events as the kid will have to cross a war-torn world to find the White Wolf. Of course, Yennefer and Triss will predictably be among the main characters since Geralt would not be as interesting without difficult romances and sexual tension.

The trailer also confirmed the release date for the show. We will be able to enjoy all the 8 episodes of the Witcher before Christmas as the show will be released on Netflix on the 20th of December.

Quick Take

When the series was first announced I was skeptical. In some ways I still am. But the information and the trailers that have been released up until now raised my hopes a bit. Additionally, I have to say that Henry Cavill got Geralt's voice down perfectly. I can now understand this casting choice.
