There's a bit of bad news for prospective city planners — the Mini Motorways Steam release date has been delayed by more than a month — and Nintendo Switch gamers will have to wait even longer.
Mini Motorways is the newest game from Dinosaur Polo Club, the same developer that created the delightful puzzle game Mini Metro. Mini Metro is all about building subway stations and lines in order to keep everyone moving at a good pace in a constantly expanding, randomized simulation of real-world cities. That game certainly had more than its fair share of success, so it should come as no surprise that a sequel of sorts was announced.
That sequel was Mini Motorways, a game that shifts the focus from rail lines to roadways. First announced back in 2019, some players were surely disappointed to discover that it was going to be exclusive to Apple Arcade for a period. A PC version of the game was nonetheless on the way at a later date and we finally got confirmation of a PC launch late last year.
Unfortunately, not everything goes to plan — Mini Motorways was supposed to launch on Steam sometime in May 2021. As the month comes to a close, Dinosaur Polo Club has announced that we're going to have to wait a few more weeks before we can play it.
When is the Mini Motorways Steam Release Date?
The Mini Motorways Steam release date is now July 20, 2021, according to a press release. You'll be able to pick it up for PC and Mac at the price of $9.99 / £6.99 / €8.19 or your regional equivalent and it will have a 10% launch discount once it goes live.
It's been more than a year since the game debuted on Apple Arcade, but that brings some advantages for other platforms — the Steam version of the game will debut with the Dubai and Mexico City maps along with the introduction of roundabouts. In the future, Dinosaur Polo Club will push updates for the game across all platforms.
PC players will certainly have a fun little diversion for the summer, but that's not the only new platform this game is coming to — Mini Motorways is also making its way to the Nintendo Switch, though you're going to be waiting much longer than just a few weeks to play it.
When is the Mini Motorways Nintendo Switch Release Date?
The Mini Motorways Nintendo Switch release date will be sometime in the first quarter of 2022. No price was announced for this version of the game. That said, Mini Metro is priced the same on Steam and Nintendo Switch, so you can probably expect this version of the game to also launch for $9.99 or your regional equivalent.
Delays are always a pain in the butt, but it's better to give developers the time they need to get things right. For now, you can keep yourself occupied by buying Mini Metro on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices via the game's official website for $9.99.
