Microsoft Flight Simulator Local Legend 9 Latécoère 631

Today was a big day for Microsoft Flight Simulator, with relevant releases and reveals from Microsoft itself and third-party developers.

We start with Microsoft, which released the free City Update 2, featuring France, and the payware Local Legend 9, the vintage flying boat Latécoère 631, co-developed by BlueMesh.

The City Update comes with scenery for Amiens, Angers, Nantes, Nîmes, and Reims, on top of a hand-crafted rendition of Paris–Le Bourget Airport (LFPB). That's quite appropriate since the update celebrates the ongoing Paris Air Show, which is hosted at Paris–Le Bourget Airport.

As usual for this kind of update, you need to find it on the official in-som marketplace and "purchase" them for free to initiate the download.

The Latécoère 631 is priced at the usual $14.99, and it includes a whopping 16 liveries.

Moving on to third-party developers, Orbx released the much-teased Melbourne International Airport (YMML) in Australia. It's currently available on Orbx Direct for $23.93, promising the following features:

  • Detailed depiction of YMML airport
  • Realistic custom groundpoly reflecting layout as of May 2023
  • PBR texturing throughout
  • Interior terminal modelling of departure lounges
  • VDGS and custom traffic animations
  • Crisp satellite imagery
  • Custom taxiway signs and lighting
  • Detailed recreation of Melbourne Jet Base with interior and static model of the restored DC-3, Kanana
  • 100s of clutter objects
  • Includes custom POIs such as the Airservices Australia compound, landside hotels, carparks, Maccas and Mercedes-Benz dealership with helipad
  • Entire airport optimised with LODs
  • Includes a GSX profile by RW Profiles, Melbourne tour mission and C172 livery

Lastly, we get a few new screenshots of Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (EKCH) in Denmark from SimNord.
