Today Meta announced Meta Quest+, a subscription service dedicated to the company's virtual reality headsets.

The service offers two VR games per month and it's priced at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. If you pay one year upfront you save 37% of the total cost. On top of that, those who subscribe before July 31 can get the first month for $1, similar to the offer that used to exist for Microsoft's Game Pass.

The games coming in July (when the service starts) are Cloudhead Games’ Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995 by Arvore. In August you're getting Mighty Coconut’s Walkabout Mini Golf and Posture Games' Mothergunship: Forge.

Meta Quest+ will be available for all owners of Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets. Of course, it'll also be compatible with the recently announced Meta Quest 3 when it releases later this fall.

In case you've missed the news, the Meta Quest 3 will be priced at $499.99 for the 128GB version. The announcement was accompanied by a price drop for the Meta Quest Pro, down to $299.99 for the 128GB SKU and $349.99 for the 256GB.

Considering how successful subscription services are nowadays, and how much they contribute to various companies' revenue, this move isn't surprising. We'll have to wait and see whether it matches its competitors' success.
