Today sega released a new trailer of its upcoming JRPG Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, showing off the opening cutscene of the game.
for those who have played its predecessor, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, we get to see how Ichiban Kasuga has settled down in Yokohama and is living pretty much the normal life of your average salaryman.
Whoever is familiar with Japan will likely recognize quite a few elements that make this a rather realistic depiction.
After work, he stops by Yoshinoya (a popular and affordable chain specializing in Gyudon, a bowl of rice with beef) for dinner, then drops by a convenience store for beers, which he shares with a homeless man he meets in front of a bar that forbids entrance to homeless men.
Then he strolls by the entertainment street and dodges the attempts of a tout and a couple of hostesses to drag him into a hostess club, and finally gets to go to bed.
Perhaps the only weird element is that he doesn't bring his trash home, which is an absolute must in Japan. Perhaps he found a super-rare trash bin in the park or the bag was simply cumbersome to animate. At least, I hope he picked up the cans from the ground. Bad, bad Ichiban.
You can watch the trailer below, with the knowledge that this blissful everyday life won't last much longer.
