While Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is currently working hard on finishing Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, it may have another big thing in the pipeline.
In a year-end group interview on the Japanese media outlet Famitsu, studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama appears to be in a teasing mood.
As the keyphrase for 2024 he picks "a year that shows the further evolution of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio."
If that wasn't enough of a tease, Yokoyama-san mentions that, while he's happy to release Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth in the year of the Dragon, he hopes to be able to make another "bug announcement" in 2024.
Her did not provide any further information about what this "big announcement" could be, but combined with the idea of "further evolution" for the studio, it's certainly interesting.
A while ago, we learned that the studio has been working on a new franchise besides Like a Dragon and Judgment, but we don't know whether Yokoyama-san is hinting at that or something else entirely.
He became head of the studio in 2021, following the departure of Toshihiro Nagoshi, who created a new studio under NetEase's umbrella.
Under his leadership, the studio has also released Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
The studio's next game, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, will be released on January 26, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you so wish, you can pre-order a physical copy on Amazon.
