Beloved classic adventure game King’s Quest from Sierra Games received a modern update by The Odd Gentleman and was released today, July, 28, 2015. Unfortunately a bug is preventing some PS4 users from playing the game. Sierra Games is aware of the issue and working with Sony to fix it but for now PS4 owners wanting to play King’s Quest are out of luck.

King's Quest Bug Discovered in PS4 Version

King’s Quest will be released episodically in five chapters, the first of which can be downloaded today. The first chapter of King’s Quest called “A Knight to Remember” should be available to gamers that purchased the game but unfortunately PS4 players are experiencing an error that prevents them from doing so. Users experiencing the problem receive a message saying they need to update the game when attempting to launch it. However, there are no updates available for the game and PS4 users can’t get past the message.

The game can be purchased either episodically or in a complete collection. Only those that have purchased the The Complete Collection of King’s Quest for PS4 are experiencing this issue. All five chapters include stories that focus on King Graham’s past. The first chapter “A Knight to Remember” has an old King Graham voiced by Christopher Lloyd telling his granddaughter, Gwendolyn, about his quest to become a knight of Daventry in King Edward’s royal guard as a teenager.

Unfortunately those that purchased the Complete Collection of King’s Quest for PS4 aren’t able to explore the charming coming of age story. So far King’s Quest has gotten positive feedback from gamers and reviewers. Many gamers were looking forward to the new content in one of gaming's most memorable series'. Hopefully this PS4 bug will be fixed soon so that everyone can get a chance to play the first episode of the revitalized franchise. King's Quest  is also available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PC via Steam without this bug.

Update: There is now a fix for the problem preventing PS4 users from playing King's Quest. An update for the game is now live and PS4 owners will need to uninstall King's Quest and then re-download it from the store. After re-downloading you'll need to go to Settings> PlayStation Store/ Account Managment and select Restore Licenses.
