Jade Raymond's new indie game developer Haven Studios is officially joining Sony's PlayStation Studios, adding AAA talent to its growing pool of developers.

Back in 2019, gaming industry veteran Jade Raymond made a somewhat surprising move -- she joined Google as a Vice President to work on its gaming efforts. Unfortunately, this relationship came to an abrupt end when Google announced the closure of its internal game development studios. Raymond then went on to form Haven Studios a little more than a year ago. Now, her fledgling company is officially joining PlayStation Studios.

Sony's Acquisition of Haven Studios Adds Triple-A Talent

The announcement that Haven Studios would be joining PlayStation Studios was made earlier today. Furthermore, Sony announced that Haven Studios would be working on "an original AAA multiplayer game" as its first project.

"Today, I’m delighted to announce that Haven Studios is officially joining PlayStation Studios!" read a blog post from Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst. "Jade Raymond brings a wealth of experience from her industry achievements and an infectious passion for creating games, and the leadership team at Haven is an equally impressive group of industry veterans who have collaborated on some of the biggest and most beloved games and franchises that many of us still enjoy today."

As one might expect, Jade Raymond is equally thrilled about the new opportunities afforded to her company by working with Sony.

"Joining PlayStation Studios provides Haven with the creative freedom and unparalleled support to focus on building the highest quality games," Raymond said in a press release. "We’re excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from all of the exceptional PlayStation Studios teams. We intend to fully embrace the incredible capabilities of the PS5 to create new worlds that inspire players and allow them to connect in new ways."

While we don't know much about Haven Studios' mysterious multiplayer project, Raymond's experience in the industry will surely help shape it into something unique. Her history in the industry includes work on a number of key Ubisoft franchises including Assassin's CreedWatch Dogs, and Splinter Cell. She was also involved with video game adaptations of a little sci-fi movie franchise you might have heard of called Star Wars.

For now, Haven Studios and its 60+ employees are working on its first project in earnest. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to actually hear about it. For now, you can learn a bit more about this company on its official website.
