A new video for Injustice 2 has been shared with the public by publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios today. This one shows gameplay of new character Cheetah. This is the most we’ve gotten to see of the villainess since the announcement of her inclusion back in February. Take a look at the trailer below.
Looking like a fierce competitor, newcomer Cheetah is an agile fighter that makes extensive use of her feline claws. The video shows the villains quick movements and slashing attacks as she fights against her nemesis Wonder Woman on a museum stage. Using an elephant tusk from the environment, Cheetah is able to dish out a lot of damage. Another environmental attack showcased in the video is setting off a Batplane with your opponent along for a dangerous ride, supposedly in a new Batlair setting.
Making her debut in Wonder Woman #6 in 1943 the Cheetah has had four different incarnations throughout comic history. It’s uncertain which generation Injustice 2’s character is meant to represent but it’s most likely archaeologist turned super villain Barbara Ann Minerva, who is the current Cheetah in the DC-verse. Minerva’s backstory has gone through various retellings in which she attained her powers from an African guardian, a magical Amazonian relic or involvement with a cult. Regardless of the version, Cheetah comes from a wealthy background and develops a severe dislike of Wonder Woman leading to them clashing across various timelines and iterations.
Cheetah’s special move entails throwing her opponent up in the air and dealing a barrage of slashing attacks before crashing her enemy to the ground with a back cracking blow. This will be the character's first time joining the Injustice roster and she brings quick movements that facilitate easy dodging and difficult to block attacks. When Injustice 2 releases on May 16, 2017, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can try out the new character for themselves.
