Today Compile Heart released the first trailer and screenshots of the newly-announced Hyperdimension Neptunia spin-off JRPG Hyperdimension Neptunia: GameMaker R:Evolution.
The new trailer and the images provide the first look at the new characters introduced in the game and designed by Tsunako, the traditional character designer of the series. Pipi, Jiyaga, and Lideo are "goddesses of failure," representing video game platforms that lost the console wars and disappeared. On top of that, Neptune herself sports a new adult form.
The game, which was revealed a couple of days ago following a tease last week, includes a management part in which you have to lead a game development studio in which you'll develop disks that enhance the characters' actions and skills in combat.
You'll be able to develop better disks as your company becomes larger and better. Battles are fought with 4-character parties including elements the series is known for, like EXE Drive and goddess transformation.
Hyperdimension Neptunia: GameMaker R:Evolution releases in Japan on August 10, 2023, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Below you can check out the assets.
At the moment, no announcement was made for the west and we'll probably have to wait a bit longer, as Idea Factory International tends to wait at least a few months before announcing localizations. Of course, we'll let you know as soon as a western release is announced. Considering precedent, it should be a matter of "when" more than "if."
If you're unfamiliar with the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, it's basically Compile Heart's flagship franchise, having debuted all the way back in 2010 and counting about 20 games between mainline ones, remakes, spin-offs like this, and even crossovers like the recent Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars.
