Today Compile Heart announced a brand new Hyperdimension Neptunia spin-off game titled Hyperdimension Neptunia: GameMaker R:Evolution.

The announcement, which follows a tease shared last week, was made via Famitsu. The game will launch in Japan on August 10, 2023, for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

The premise of the game is actually rather funny. In the time of the console wars, three goddesses representing console manufacturers were defeated in the competition to gain market share. They were branded as "goddesses of failure" and abandoned, destined to fade into oblivion.

But then, Adult Neptune, a girl who traveled through many dimensions, appeared out of nowhere and the three goddesses of failure ask her to become the president of a game company in order to restore their market that had been destroyed.

The three goddesses are completely new and have been designed from scratch by traditional Hyperdimension Neptunia character designer Tsunako. The game revolves around exploring dungeons and managing the game development business.

Judging from the screenshots, the other goddesses like Noire and Blanc are also involved. More information will be revealed in earnest on tomorrow's issue of Famitsu.

If you're unfamiliar with the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, it's basically Compile Heart's flagship franchise, having debuted all the way back in 2010 and counting about 20 games between mainline ones, remakes, spin-offs like this, and even crossovers like the recent Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars.

If things go with the usual pattern, we're likely going to see the first trailer before the end of the week following the full reveal on the Magazine version of Famitsu. For the west, we'll probably have to wait longer, as Idea Factory International tends to wait at least a few months before announcing localizations.

Of course, we'll let you know here on TechRaptor as soon as anything relevant about the game is revealed, both for Japan and for North America/Europe.
