Homeworld 3

Today Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing announced that the upcoming sci-fi RTS Homeworld 3 has been delayed.

The latest installment of the storied sci-fi franchise was supposed to come in the first half of 2023, but it was not to be. An announcement made on Twitter reveals the delay, and it's not a small one. We won't play the game before February 2024.

Below you can find the full message.

We are moving the launch of Homeworld 3 to February 2024.
Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series' incredible legacy.
Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realize that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.
We deeply appreciate your passion and dedication to this game, and we are working hard to get Homeworld 3 to you as soon as we can.

The game was originally announced all the way in 2019 with a crowdfunding campaign on Fig and is supposedly coming for PC. As a matter of fact, I played it at Gamescom last year, and it was a lot of fun. Yet, apparently, it wasn't as close to completion as I thought.

If you're not familiar with the Homeworld series, it debuted all the way in 1999 developed by Relic Entertainment. Its beautiful art and interesting 3D RTS mechanic made it an instant classic, with multiple sequels released in the following years and a remaster of the first two titles launched in 2015.
