House Flipper HGTV DLC

House Flipper has always been a video game about fulfilling your deepest HGTV fantasies. You can buy houses that quite frankly should be burned to ground and then turn them into $500,000 works of art. As a bit of a handyman myself (I used a screwdriver once), this concept alone sold me on House Flipper when I first discovered it on Steam a year ago. The renovation options feel endless and the game mechanics behind cleaning up the properties are innovative for the genre. However, it always felt like the game was just a shim shy of truly encapsulating the joy of a HGTV show.

Now fans of arguably the most niche game in history can rejoice! Frozen District, the publishers behind House Flipper, have announced a partnership with the television channel HGTV to bring official HGTV themed content to the game. The appropriately titled HGTV DLC adds 10 new jobs to the game. They all take place in the new location of Massachusetts Bay Area, which is featured prominently on the HGTV channel.

There are also two new mechanics added to the game that really separates it from previously released DLC and updates. Firstly, there’s a decision-making mechanic that allows players to negotiate with crew and clients to decide on the best options for the house and budget. In addition, there’s a plot twist mechanic that will make things more complicate—just like every episode of every HGTV show ever filmed!

And of course, it wouldn’t be a House Flipper DLC without a swatch of new items to help bring out your inner Martha Stewart.

No release date or price have been announced. The previously released Garden Flipper DLC completely overhauled the outdoor portion of the game for $14.99, so with the amount of content HGTV DLC is adding, I feel that it’s going to be within that ballpark.
