Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony have released a new Helldivers 2 patch, and this one's all about making sure meteor showers are a little less deadly.
Patch 1.000.103 may not have the flashiest name, but it's making quite a few important balance changes, the first of which is a drop in the spawn rates for planetary hazards.
These hazards include "tremors, meteor showers, volcanic activity, fire tornados, and ion storms", according to Arrowhead, so you should see fewer of these phenomena when you're slaughtering Terminids or Automatons.
In particular, meteor showers have received a lot of attention in this patch. Not only have they had their spawn rate reduced, but Arrowhead has also lowered the explosion radius, meteor damage, and velocity of meteor showers.
You should hopefully also notice that the Volcanic Activity event has had its explosion radius and rock velocity reduced slightly. It should be a lot harder for these events to kill you outright without warning now.
Lastly in terms of weather changes, lightning on Fenrir III is now less bright, so when a meteor shower strikes, you should be able to see a little more clearly.
A number of other fixes have also been implemented in Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.103.
These fixes include patrols spawning on top of players less frequently, as well as exosuits no longer destroying themselves when they fire a missile while turning.

Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter with a strong focus on multiplayer. It launched in February to huge popularity, surpassing 450,000 concurrent players on Steam within two weeks of its release.
Since launch, it's received a number of updates, and a recent spate of mysterious blue laser attacks has led players to speculate that a new faction could be on the way.
You can grab Helldivers 2 right now on PC and PlayStation 5. Check out our review of the game here if you want to know whether it's worth your time.
