Horizon Forbidden West developer Guerrilla Games has revealed that it's working on a new game in the series, but this one's aimed at those who like to play together rather than solo. While both Horizon games (and the upcoming VR title) are single-player experiences, this new one will be "a separate online project".

According to an announcement on Twitter, a "new internal team" at the Amsterdam-based studio is developing a multiplayer game set in the Horizon universe. It'll feature a brand new cast of characters and what Guerrilla is calling a "unique stylized look", so it'll be pretty different to the Horizon games we've seen so far.

The announcement Guerrilla Games made on Twitter looking for staffers
Something new is coming to the world of Horizon.

Guerrilla's announcement promises that you and your friends will "be able to explore the majestic wilds of Horizon together". We don't have many more details about the new project than that, but given its stylized aesthetic and multiplayer focus, it could be something like a survival game or a more streamlined, focused experience than Horizon's usual massive open-world direction.

As part of the announcement, Guerrilla says it's looking for staffers to help it realize its vision. Open positions include cinematics and gameplay animation managers, art directors, and player engagement designers. The jobs are all spread across Guerrilla's various projects, with "SP" marking its single-player efforts, "OP" referring to this new game, and "EP" pointing to external projects.

If you're worried that this means a break from what Horizon usually does, you shouldn't be. Guerrilla is quick to reassure fans that it is "continuing to create epic solo adventures for Aloy", as indeed the upcoming Burning Shores DLC, which was announced at this year's Game Awards, demonstrates. There's also the upcoming Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a VR game making its debut alongside PSVR 2 in February next year. Suffice it to say you've got lots to look forward to if you're a fan of Aloy's adventures in the post-apocalyptic United States.
