JRPG lovers on PlayStation and Xbox have reason to celebrate today, as GungHo Online Entertainment announced that the Grandia HD Collection is coming to their platforms this month.

Specifically, the remasters of Grandia and Grandia 2 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on March 26, 2024.

Of course, you'll still be able to play them on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility.

The Grandia HD Collection was released for Switch and PC in 20219, and it's finally broadening its scope to the rest of the console platforms.

Fans of physical games will be happy to hear that Limited Run Games will release a physical edition, with pre-orders starting this week on March 15.

The HD remasters come with improved UI,  better sprites, and higher-resolution textures on top of widescreen support and visually enhanced original cinematics.

As for languages, you can expect Japanese and English voice-overs and subtitles and UI text in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (both simplified and traditional).

If you're unfamiliar with the original games, Grandia debuted on Sega Saturn in 1997 and then on the original PlayStation in 1999. It was developed by the beloved studio Game Arts and it was received very positively worldwide, becoming over time a classic that many JRPG fans love.

The sequel, Grandia 2, followed a similar trajectory from Sega to Sony consoles, launching in 2000 for Dreamcast followed by a PlayStation 2 release in 2002, but also debuting fro PC in the same year. It was welcomed with acclaim by critics and fans alike just like its predecessor (albeit the PS2 version suffered a bit from technical shortcomings)

Incidentally, if you're interested in Game Arts, co-founder Yoichi Miyaji recently launched a Kickstarter for a mecha game code-named Project MBR, albeit the campaign was not successful the developers pledged to continue developing the game.
