A free Rainbow Six Siege operator is now available in the game for a limited time. Current owners who log in will be able to score themselves a free operator, just like that—as long as they do it before the year is up.
Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical first-person shooter by Ubisoft where two teams battle it out using a variety of high-tech gadgets. A core part of this game is the different operators who each have their own equipment loadouts and abilities. Normally, you have to unlock these characters by spending Renown. However, a single Rainbow Six Siege operator will be unlocked for free as long as you log in to the game before January 1, 2019.
Getting your free Rainbow Six Siege operator is a relatively straightforward process. Simply log into the game and you should be awarded a free "Holiday Pack" right then and there. This pack will unlock one random operator that you haven't already acquired any of the other ways.
It's entirely possible that the more hardcore members of the community have already unlocked all of the operators. Thankfully, Ubisoft has seen fit to prepare a contingency for this less-likely (but still very possible) scenario. If you happen to have all of the operators, the Holiday Pack will instead grant you 25,000 Renown. This is roughly what it costs to unlock a new operator, so you'd be able to get one when some new guys and gals are added to the game. (Of course, you'd be entirely free to spend the Renown on something else in the game if you felt like it.)
This offer for a free Rainbow Six Siege operator will remain in effect until January 1, 2019. If you don't yet own the game, you can pick it up for 70% off on Green Man Gaming as part of their holiday sale.
