Fortnite's playable alpha is here

Published: December 2, 2014 9:55 AM /

Fortnite is Epic Games' new cooperative 3rd Person Shooter. The main purpose of the game is to build your own base, complete with traps and defense systems, and then defend it from waves of monsters. Think it like a Team Fortress 2 meets Minecraft meets Orcs Must Die. The playable alpha begins today and will continue for a fortnight (hehe) until December 19th.  [youtube]

Epic Games started sending alpha invites last month and probably will send more during these 2 weeks. Predictably, not many people received an access code, but since the game is still in development, it's to be expected. At the current state, the game is functional but Epic Games is looking for user feedback to make the best out of it:

During this phase of the Alpha we are testing to make sure all of the basic stuff, from the launcher to all the game systems, is working so we can start getting real feedback from real players to help us make the game better. The game is still rough around the edges but we think it can benefit from your input even at this early stage.
Fortnite will be a PC exclusive and at the actual state of things, we don't have a precise release window for it yet.
